PG medical counseling to continue today

Vijayawada: Counseling for post-graduate medical students will be continued on June 29 (Sunday). The seat allotment for the reserved category will be completed from 134th rank, where it was halted, Vice-Chancellor of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences Dr T Ravi Raju said here on Saturday.

He told the media that the principal secretaries of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh had decided along with DMEs to go ahead with the counseling process, after alleged seat confusion.

Counseling for this category will be finished by Sunday (it will be held throughout the day), while that for the general, service and others will be taken up from June 30. He clarified that the confusion on seat allotment for a few students will be sorted out. There will be no changes of candidates who have already picked the seats. Those who have appeared for counseling need not attend, Dr Raju stated. Meanwhile, parents and students protested stalling the counseling process, causing a delay. They raised slogans against the VC and the varsity for inefficiency. Parents expressed concern over the delay because of which they were required to stay back for more days.
